Synchronicity 1 is part of a two-piece exploration I created to see how two paintings would turn out if I painted them side by side with the same color palette. To do this, I intentionally had no plan in mind for what the paintings would end up as, and used my intuitive painting method to create them both.
This piece took about three to four painting sessions before I called it complete, and unlike other pieces of mine, I did not instantly love this piece or think it was done.
I only “kind of” liked where this piece was at, so decided to stop working on it for a few days to let it breathe. Over the next few days, it grew on me more and more and has now ended up being one of my favorite paintings I’ve ever made, and one of the most popular ones among people who have seen my work.
