Natural Progressions
This series builds off my Natural Expressions work, but pushes into new territory. I started experimenting with oil sticks — something I've played with on and off for years — and fell in love with the raw, expressive marks they create. The inspiration for these pieces came from a trip to Art Basel in Miami and exhibitions I saw in Paris. What struck me both times was expressiveness. Not perfection, not precision — just pure expression. That word stuck with me and became the driving force behind this series. With Natural Progressions, I wanted to let go and just let something flow out of me. If that meant scribbling with oil sticks, then that was the painting. Gradients of color — still a lot of blue, because we love blue — layered with gestural marks that carry the energy of the moment they were made.
